The Lodge was the first English lodge to meet in
Kempton Park, and as there was already a Scottish
lodge bearing that name, the founders decided to use
that of the industrial suburb, Isando, 'hammer' in
Zulu. The Consecrating Chaplain, W Bro Canon Eric
Richardson, in his oration, reminded the founders
that while we work traditionally with the gavel, a
gentler instrument, we can see the hammer as
representing the workman 'hammering home and finally
securing within his heart the principles and
precepts delineated by the Great Architect'.
The Lodge, which meets, as a tenant, at the masonic
hall in Kempton Park took a few years to settle down
but gradually built up a mainly youthful and
vigorous membership. Its 'reporter' is too modest to
mention Isando's financial efforts for charity but
the fact is that these have been excellent, and an
example to lodges of larger and 'better lined'
membership.
Exsequi Lodge meets at Park
Lane in Johannesburg, South Africa on the fourth Monday of
February (Election Meeting), April (Installation Meeting),
June, August, October and November. Exsequi is a Freemasons
Dining Lodge and masonic guests are most welcome.
